We are moved with the stallions to the most beautifull accomodation in Alcochete...!!!

Introduction to

The World of the Lusitano Horse

After the initial journey in 1976 and after answering hundreds maybe thousands of questions about the Lusitano horse and its native country,
a supervised program is now available which will enable people to experience all facets of Portugal themselves....

Depending on the season, a number of interesting equestrian sites can be visited the whole year round, but it is also possible to create a personalised program mixed with culture. There will be no mass tourism or stuffed busses, but a maximum of 8 people, led by an experienced guide with full command of the language. The guide knows the country, the culture and the Lusitano horse as a rider and a breeder. The program is perfectly suitable for people having affiliation with horses and would like to learn a lot, but do not necessarily need riding...... Though riding is certainly possible, the emphasis will be on discovering this wonderfully traditional world. Day trips will cover studs and shows, museums, saddlers, the local tack shop and so forth... Palaces, gardens, but also impressive places which can't be found in any travel book.... Would you like to learn more about breeding, behaviour in a semi-wild environment, nutrition or the level of the local equestrian or veterinarian schooling? Thematic programs are also possible.

Maybe you are looking for a (2nd) home in Portugal? Or for business partners in wine, coffee, agriculture, cork, marble, nature stones or ceramics?
The sky is the limit and all the necessary arrangements can be made in advance to provide you with an efficient trip.

Our stallions were also looking forward to departure...

Are you looking for a traditional Portuguese saddle, or a Lusitano horse? Would you prefer getting to know their home country first? You can broaden your mind with the help of an objective advisor... We do not recommend particular breeders, but are familiar with most of them... Next to that, there are a number of highly professional trainers, working with horses of several studs with great results. Whether you are looking for an inexperienced horse or one who knows all the tricks, your journey can be prepared in advance to enable you to start your search in the most optimal, objective and efficient way possible. Veterinary checks are possible at the spot and insurance and transport can be arranged as well.

"We can offer a challenging learning environment for students who are interested in baroque horses and the Lusitano horse in particular". Students of any agricultural/equestrian college or university are welcome to do an internship with us. Next to yard work and riding, the center is an excellent place for gaining theoretical knowledge. It has an extended library filled with books, videos and DVDs about the Lusitano horse, other baroque horses and riding styles. In the case students posses satisfactory riding skills they may participate in shows, demonstrations or studbook events in a traditional Portuguese outfit!

On the lovely tulip picture you can see Joyce van Lier, who did an internship with us in May 2005. Other nice and beautiful pictures of Anne-Marie, Renate, Marit, Joelle, Lieke, Laura and Linde will soon be available on the student section of the website.

Together we work on a positive future for the riding school and studfarm in Portugal!
