Courses 2010WE ARE MOVING TO ANOTHER BETTER FARM DURING MARCH DURING THIS PERIOD WE ARE NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE CLIENTS FOR HORSERIDING OR HOLIDAYS Course to discover the Lusitano horse of Portugal During one week you will meet the culture of this ancient Portuguese breed from within, so that after this course you will have more knowledge about it. We analyse general breeding, pedigrees and papers, read books and watch films in our own library, visit studs and the show from the Escola Portuguesa d΄Arte Equestre, do some shopping at a traditional saddler, visit if possible also an event and take a rest in the field between the grazing mares. We also will see the differences between the Spanish breed PRE and the Lusitano. Of course there will be the possibility to ride these beautiful horses; in our own riding school you will have one or more sitting lessons and dressage lessons, for experienced riders we go outside for a hack and we also visit a trainer with highly schooled horses. After this Lusitano-Experience you will have got the passion for sure... Next to this course there will be enough time to do some other pleasant things!!! There will be the possibility of buying tiles or to order your own design. With this experience you are able to start some small projects at home, such as the toilet, bathroom or kitchen. In the workshop there are a lot of materials you also can find in stores at home. Day to day chores are covered, from hanging a painting or a cupboard on the wall, to fixing a lamp or a washing machine, painting, sawing, figure sawing, drilling, small car mechanics, etc., etc. It will provide women with a bit of independence and of course it is fun to be able to fix things yourself. We will visit farmers markets and adegas, explore supermarkets with different perspectives and we will have the opportunity to discover the secrets of a fine restaurant and a bakery. Bread and pastry are still made according to the old traditions.... Also coffee, the queen of drinks, will be covered. We will be experimenting with different recipes and suggestions. Portugal's special light will give an extra dimension to all your photographs! There are so many of beautiful subjects within our reach that we will have a shortage of time. In this course the focus will be on dividing space and using colours, not on Photoshop... We also will study the use of images for publicity (printing, internet). It is important to bring your own equipment like a digital camera and a laptop, so that we can start evaluating immediately. Next to the course there will be plenty of time for other enjoyments. This will be practiced in a pleasant way with a lot of practical work, for instance picking up expressions in actual shops, on the terrace, on tv or at people's homes. The difference with Brazilian will also be covered. Portuguese friendliness will certainly be able to help during the communication process. We will make field trips to see the trees up close and learn about the process of taking the bark of and the way it is used for many purposes. Cork is a very special natural material and Portugal is one of its major producers worldwide. After collecting and transporting the cork, it is made into different products. We will visit some local companies which use this product in a number of surprising ways apart from its use in the wine industry. An eco-journey where nature meets mechanics. Apart from the course there will be plenty of time for enjoyment and naturally not all bottles will keep their corks!
